Volledig akkoord  als ik voor mezelf mocht kiezen werd het ofwel full black (dat had je allicht niet verwacht :D) ofwel close second dat geel. Sowieso met WP.

Al moet ik zeggen dat ik het jammer zou vinden om niet die gouden tint in de wielen te hebben ...

Porsche 991 GT2RS goes sub-7, is on course for a new Nürburgring Nordschleife record

Standing at T13, the conditions tonight at the Nordschleife are perfect for a lap record. Cool air, dry surface, just a hint of sunshine peeking through the stormy clouds.

Porsche booked two full evenings just for laptiming this week; Tuesday and Wednesday. Yesterday the weather was much cooler, and the track a bit slippery. Locals reported laptimes of over 7-minutes.

Today is different. Standing at the outside of T13 left-hander, watching the very first lap of the bright yellow Porsche 991 GT2RS I take a photo of the car crossing the start line…

Now LESS THAN SEVEN MINUTES later… the big Porsche is back, billowing heat from it’s twin-turbo 700hp motor.

Remember that the industry standard finish line is OUT OF SIGHT from this position… and let’s check out these times from the EXIF data:

 

By listening to the driver come off the gas pedal, I’d say there’s a few more seconds you can take off this time. He cruised into sight taking several seconds to arrive in front of the camera. So don’t think 6m56s, think 6m54s or maybe less.

And that is the FIRST lap of SEVERAL tonight…

 

 

 

  

 

If the Porsche doesn’t beat the Lambo, I suspect I’ll be eating my own hat… they’re taking it pretty seriously. The whole Touristenfahrten carpark has been taken over by Porsche Sport. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s even have their own tyre-heater tents hiding behind the bushes!

2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Reportedly Sets 6:48.75 Nurburgring Lap Record

The Porsche 911 prototypes blitzing the Nurburgring have been keeping us on our toes all year and it seems that the Neunelfer is ready to collect its Green Hell crown.

Yes, we're talking about the production vehicle lap time record. You see, despite the fact that the German automaker has fully revealed the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, with the configurator now being online.

We've seen King Kong lapping the Nordschleife on countless occasions and the latest info on the topic talks about the 700 hp animal having lapped the Ring in 6:48.75.

The said chronograph number was mentioned by Edo Karabegovic, the man behind the Porsche-friendly Edo Performance German aftermarket developer and you can find it in a Facebook post.

And while we can't be sure this is the official lap time of the rear-wheel-drive special, the Neunelfer certainly has the potential to deliver such performance. For one thing, we'll remind you that Porsche's Mark Webber let it slip that the Rennsport Neunelfer managed to hit 208 mph on the track's main straight, a velocity level that tops those delivered by the current holder of the record, the 640 hp Lamborghini Huracan Performante (6:52).

For one thing, the quickest 911 derivative is currently the 991.2 GT3, which needs 7:12.7 to lap the infamous German circuit. Keep in mind that we're talking about a Neunelfer animated by a naturally aspirated 500 hp flat-six, while the GT2 RS mixes a 700-pony twin-turbo boxer mill with lightweight carbon parts delivered by its (optional) Weissach Package.

Until we get our hands on the official Nurburgring lap time of the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, you can check out a Racing Yellow example of the supercar doing its thing on the Green Hell below.

P.S.: Returning to the 911 assault we mentioned in the intro, we have to keep in mind that the Porsche is currently also testing the 991.2 GT3 RS on the Ring.

Video had wel een sync-issue beeld/geluid vanaf ergens 6 minuten? Als dat maar geen reden is voor de online community om de authenticiteit van de video te betwisten.

Wat me opviel:

• gebarsten voorruit, kar moet dus al danig hard gepeerd geweest zijn (gebroken door torsie?)
• het lijkt er op (te zien aan sommige rijlijnen, insnijpunten e.d.) dat die kar aan dat tempo zeer hard een rijstijl nodig heeft die lijkt op die die de klassieke 911 nodig heeft: insturen under load of anders onderstuur; de keren dat er ingestuurd wordt zonder veel load te zetten (door te remmen) lijkt net de kont snel langszij te willen komen
• tractie   hoe absurd
• ei zo na 300 op schwedenkreuz, netjes
• 't ding doet al voor de éérste kurb doorheen Fuchsrohre méér dan ik ooit in de dip ervan deed  miljaar
• soms eentje te veel teruggeschakeld, lijkt me?
• zou graag eens de inzet (camera die in interieur kijkt en driver weergeeft) fullscreen zien, piloot had het redelijk druk zo te zien, moet leuk zijn om in detail te kunnen zien

Hij schakelt zoals bij een atmo. Hij houdt de snelheid heel hoog en heeft bij wijze van spreken meer PK dan koppel nodig wat toch voor een groot stuk dat terugschakelen zou kunnen verklaren.
