Lamborghini Huracan

Lamborghini's new entry-level Huracan model has been spied ahead of its impending reveal.

The all-new model will replace the decade-old Gallardo model, powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine that will likely send its power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. No manual gearbox will be offered for the new Huracan, which is expected to be priced upwards of $400,000.

The new model is expected to make use of a modified version of the current 5.2-litre V10 engine found in the Gallardo, with power likely to be upwards of 450kW or 600 horsepower, which would mean it would likely wear the LP600 badge. The current Gallardo models - which recently finished production after becoming the best selling Lamborghini ever - make between 550 and 560 horsepower (410-417kW).

The spy images give plenty away in terms of how the car will be styled, with a prominent front bumper design with aggressively styled air intakes to cool the front brakes, large rear flanks with more intakes to feed cool air to the engine, and a generally sharper and more low-slung body shape.

The new model's underpinnings are expected to feature an extensive use of aluminium to keep its weight down, while the body panels could also feature fibreglass and carbon fibre. The underpinnings will be shared with an all-new Audi R8 model, due to be revealed towards the end of 2014.

The car was thought to be called Cabrera, but the name Huracan - which was rumoured to be used on the upcoming Lamborghini SUV - will instead be used on the sporty new coupe.
