Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabriolet A “Earthly Paradise” Art Car, 1995 (1952), by Hiro Yamagata. Los Angeles-based silkscreen artist Hiro Yamagata can rightfully described as the foremost restorer of W187 series Mercedes-Benz 220 A Cabriolets. Since the early 1990s, Yamagata has worked on more than 20 of these cars. Each was carefully restored by expert craftsmen. Once the cars were completed, they were used as blank canvases for Yamagata’s artistic vision.

Porsche 356 SC Cabriolet “History of the Universe” Art Car, 1964, by Janis Joplin. Joplin paid $3500 for the Porsche and then spent another $500 when she commissioned her roadie and part-time artist, Dave Richards, to paint it for her. Richards initially gave chassis no. 160371 a base coat of candy apple red paint, over which he created the work History of the Universe. Richards artwork included Joplin’s astrological sign (Capricorn), portraits of her fellow band members, the green valleys of Northern California and The Eye of God. Every inch of the bodywork was covered and then a lacquered clear coat was applied over the top. Joplin used the 356 as her daily driver and it was parked outside the Hollywood hotel she was staying at the night of her death from a heroin overdose on October 4th 1970.

BMW 8 X Jeff Koons, 2022. A special edition of 99 cars based on the M850i xDrive Gran Coupé to be presented at Frieze Los Angeles. The special paintwork takes 200 hours to apply and each car comes with a large-format certificate signed by the artist. Inside there is superhero bright red and blue upholstery. In the US the cars will cost $350,000, a $250,100 premium over the base M850i xDrive Gran Coupé that retails for $99,900 in the States.

Larbre Corvette C7.R Art Car, 2017. The French Corvette Racing team have revealed their entry for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The fluorescent livery was painted by French street and pop artist Ramzi Adek. Titled ‘Animal!’ it features comic book inspired graphics over a black base. The glow-in-the-dark graphics will help the C7.R to standout during the night portions of the race.

Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo Art Car, 2022, by Sean Wotherspoon. The designer and influencer has collaborated with Porsche to create a one-off version of the electric crossover using a vivid colour palette and unusual materials. Cork is used on the dashboard, steering wheel and centre console  while the seats are upholstered with corduroy

BMW 745Le M Sport luxury Art Car, 2020, by Gabriel Wickbold. The Sao Paulo-based photographer has presented an interpretation of the new 7-series that makes it look like it’s moving when it is standing still.  The car has been unveiled at a BMW pop-up store in a shopping mall in Sao Paulo, where it will be displayed until the end of January.

Na Lamborghini met zijn Sterrato Opera Unica is het nu de beurt aan Bugatti om een Chiron Super Sport in een uniek kleedje te onthullen. Dit is de ‘Golden Era’, waarvan de aankleding niet minder dan 2 jaar en meer dan 400 uur werk in beslag nam! Op vraag van een heel belangrijke klant creëerde het merk uit Molsheim een specifieke laktint die ‘Doré’ genoemd wordt, die gecombineerd wordt met een ‘Nocturne Black’ lak. Op het koetswerk werden met de hand 45 van de meest iconische voertuigen van het merk geschilderd.

De Porsche Taycan in kwestie is uitgevoerd in een fraai PTS-kleurtje (Olympblue), maar dat is slechts het begin. Op de frunk, spiegels en achterspoiler is een kunstwerk aangebracht van de Chinese kunstenaar Ding Yi. Toevallig is hij ook degene die deze auto besteld heeft.
