Last winter, this car, the latest Astra twin-top, was undergoing testing in Scandinavia with a makeshift roof covering its passengers. Now, GM’s German engineers have figured out the complex mechanics of the folding design, indicating the new Astra Cabrio will be launched soon.

The Astra Cabrio will most likely go on sale later his year or in early 2013. It’s architecture is based on the Delta II platform, the same one used by the Buick Verano and Chevy Cruze and Volt.

Just like the Astra GTC, this will use the HiPerStrut suspension at the front and the Watt’s link rear axle. The downside to this technology is it will not be cheap, which is probably why they are using a less costly folding fabric roof.

This car should be exciting even to our American readers, as Buick could use a drop-top version of the Verano.

Ben wel eens benieuwd, huidige Astra's vind ik énorm knap !

Mooi met een stoffen kap.

Van de voorkant verwacht ik niet verrast te zijn, maar ben wel benieuwd naar de achterkant.

Aangezien ze de HpierStrut ophanging er standaard gaan ondergooien -> duur! De vijdeurs, st, sedan en gtc zijn ook al te duur naar m'n zin

Voor een Astra naar m'n zin heb ik ook een Zafira tourer naar m'n zin... does not compute

Wordt wel zeer knap denk ik. Heeft wat weg van een A5 cabrio in grote lijnen.
