This is F1 chassis #014. Originally painted yellow and residing in Brunei from new, it then subsequently went to the US where it was sold at the 2006 Monterey Auctions for $1.705M. In 2007 the car's owner had it repainted white and fitted with the High Downforce Kit which is also inclusive of GTR wheels and suspension, along with a fully blacked-out LM-spec interior, making it one of the most unique and special F1s today. It currently resides somewhere around New York.

Jammer van de originele gele kleur...

F1 GTR #08R was raced in anger by Gulf GTC Motorsport in both the 1995 and 1996 BPR Global GT Endurance Series'. At various stages of its' life, it was also used by BMW Motorsport to present their new GTR Presentation Livery when it was first launched, and later by McLaren for VIP race car passenger rides as part of their WEST Adrenaline promotion, and in the latter capacity it wore a version of their then-current black and silver Formula One livery without sponsor logos except West's one. It was later repainted McLaren Papaya Orange and sold to the King of Bahrain who still owns it today, and also has the windows with sliding opening sections that were also supplied with each one of the customer LMs. Latterly seen at various track events held at the Bahrain GP Circuit, it was also featured in a TV show about supercars narrated by Simon Kidston, the current owner of F1 #007 who has also managed the sale of several F1s including F1 GTR #13R.

Welke F1 is dat daar in het midden met die enorme roofscoop en spitse snuit? Een LM zonder livrei veronderstel ik?

This is F1 XP3, the third of 5 F1 Experimental Prototypes built for testing and validation prior to the start of production. Completed on 30th April 1993 and finished in Magnesium bright silver. XP3 did much of the hot weather and durability testing at the Nardo circuit in Italy in the very capable hands of Jonathan Palmer, fitted with the early pre-production spec BMW S70/2 V12 engines making around 570-580Bhp rather than the full 627Bhp of the later production-spec V12s. During one of the test sessions the decision was made to run XP3 to the limit and see just how fast the F1 would go. Sunday was the only day that anyone could exceed the regular 150Mph Nardo speed limit, and they only had time for one final run at the end of the day when all testing work was completed. Nevertheless, XP3 eventually achieved 231Mph, setting a new top speed world record for production road cars (technically pre-production, but who's bothering?). XP5 would of course go on to set an even higher record, but that's another story. XP3 was also later used for gearbox development validation. Later, once the F1 had reached full production, XP3 was given to the F1's creator Gordon Murray who kept the car completely standard apart from the fitment of suspension from the F1 LM, and he still owns it until today. XP3 remains the only McLaren F1 in the world to still use the pre-production-spec front indicators.

This is F1 XP4, the fourth of 5 F1 Experimental Prototypes built for testing and validation prior to the start of production. Completed on 23rd July 1993 and originally finished in International metallic grey. XP4 was tasked for the bulk of the gearbox validation work and durability testing. When F1 production hit full swing, in late 1993, Sir Roger Bhatnagar of New Zealand enquired about buying an F1, but wasn't very pleased when told of the F1's long waiting list. McLaren gave him the option of buying XP4 immediately as it had been modified for road-worthiness, and they apparently favored the F1 going to NZ due to it being the birthplace of founder Bruce McLaren. During the purchase process, Sir Roger had the front and rear bumpers standardised to the final production-spec items and the car repainted in the blue hue seen here. Over 6 years of ownership however, Sir Roger hardly drove or used the car, and so it was later sold to current owner Larry Blair who still keeps it in San Jose. XP4 was also the F1 reviewed by Tiff Needell for Top Gear during a McLaren feature.

This is F1 GTR #14R. It was originally sent to race in the Japanese GT Series with sister car #13R under Team LARK, where it was unfortunately T-boned and heavily damaged during one of the races at Sugo in 1996. It was later rebuilt and sold to an English owner who had it repainted in McLaren Papaya Orange, and was subsequently bought by former McLaren Formula One man Adrian Newey. Currently still residing in the UK.

This is F1 chassis #073. Originally painted AMG Green Velvet with a tan leather GT-spec interior. The car's Venezuelan owner (whose brother owned F1 #011 at the same time) wanted aunique F1 that combined the power and performance of the LM with the comforts and everyday usability of the standard F1.At his request, McLaren outfitted the car with the LM-spec engine (this particular unit being quoted at 691Bhp) and the Extra High Downforce Kit, which was enhanced over the standard HDK with the fitment of GTR Longtail-style louvred vents atop the front wheelarches to relieve air pressure build-up in those areas and a 4mm Gurney flap at the rear of the car. Externally it wears a unique Dark Tangerine Metallic paint color and GTR Longtail-style wheels (#072 is the only other F1 that wears those wheels currently). Other factory upgrades consist of Armourfend film applied to the areas most vulnerable to stone chips, uprated A/C, Phillips GPS system housed within a custom-made carbon fiber casing in the left footwell, gear change light, gas discharge headlights, silver painted F1 logo motifs in the door trims and rear wing end-plates, and lastly a Peltor helicopter-rated intercom system with individual headsets (standard on LMs and road-converted GTRs) that was further enhanced with a Motorola two-way radio communication system that allowed direct car-to-car communication with #011 that also had the system fitted, on a private channel when both brothers were driving their F1s together. Gordon Murray himself hand-signed this F1 on the carbon fiber area between the chassis plaque and gear lever in permanent silver marker. McLaren's most experienced test driver himself commented that this car was 'the ultimate F1 variant, having the best combination of performance, stability, grip and handling, whilst still being practical for road use'. F1 #073 was later auctioned by Christie's in London and sold for $1,257,750 US Dollars on December 2nd 2003 to Don Wallace who still currently owns the car in Florida. The only other standard F1 in the world to have been fitted with the LM-spec engine and EHDK is #018, painted in Dark Silver Metallic, wearing the 5-spoke GTR wheels and fitted with a tan leather and Alcantara GT-spec interior. But I guess that's a story for another day.

Jammer van de originele gele kleur...

Normaal wordt dat bij mclaren zelf uitgevoerd en is dat een zeer compleet resultaat. Tis niet zomaar overspuiten van de bestaande kleur... :)

edit: wit is natuurlijk wel saai.
